Ghoul Creation Rules

Note that these rules apply only to PC ghouls. NPC ghouls (such as retainers) don't have sheets and follow the rules in the book for retainers. These rules just highlight the areas where the character creation rules differ from those presented in LotN:R. For things not covered by these rules simply follow LotN:R.

Attributes

  • At creation ghouls get 6/4/3 to distribute amongst their Physicals, Socials, and Mentals.
  • Ghouls have a maximum trait limit of 9 and learn them just like vampires.

    Abilities

  • At creation ghouls get 7 dots of abilities.
  • Ghouls learn abilities and specializations just like vampires.

    Backgrounds

  • At creation ghouls get 3 dots of backgrounds and 1 dot of influence (in any area).
  • Ghouls learn backgrounds just like vampires with the following exceptions. Ghouls may not purchase generation, herd, or retainers.

    Freebies

  • Ghouls get 7 freebie points to spend at character creation.

    Disciplines

  • At creation ghouls get one dot of Potence (Prowess) and one level of one of their regnant's in-clan disciplines. Ghouls cannot learn Necromancy, Protean, Vicissitude, or Thaumaturgy. A ghoul must have a teacher for all disciplines (even those that are In-Clan for his regnant). Without the Learn Other Disciplines Merit a ghoul cannot learn disciplines that are not In-Clan for his regnant.

    A ghoul can only learn disciplines up to a certain level depending on the generation of his regnant. If his regnant is 13th-10th generation the ghoul can only learn basic disciplines.

    7th Up to Advanced

    Basic Disciplines cost ghouls 6 XP, Intermediate Disciplines cost 12 XP, and Advanced Disciplines cost 18 XP to learn.

    Willpower

  • Ghouls start with 1 Willpower Trait and can purchase Willpower up to a Maximum of 4.

    Blood

  • Ghouls have a Blood Pool of 10 Mortal Traits and 3 Vampiric Traits. Ghouls may spend only Vampiric Traits to fuel disciplines and heal damage. Ghouls take 1 Level of Lethal Damage for every Trait of Mortal Blood that they lose. If fed from, Vampiric Blood Traits are lost first.

    Merits and Flaws

  • All Merits and Flaws require ST approval before ghouls can take them.
